Fan Appreciation Day!

Well, another season is over... Almost. Today was the last official Angels home game, and we went once again with my in-laws. The ballpark is so peaceful to me. It really is a home away from home. I doubt many really get what I'm talking about. Opening Day and Fan Appreciation Day are my most favorite games of the year. The beginning of a new season, and the closing of an old one.

The woman who sang the national anthem today was awesome. I rarely do it anymore, but it brought tears to my eyes. I love watching the opening video - it is a montage of photos through the years to that song "Calling All Angels"... That makes me cry too. Being an Angels fan is more than just a past time, it is a way of life for me. There are people at the stadium that I've known for many years now who are like family - though I really only get to see them 6 months out of the year. We've watched each other get married, have kids, bring babies to the ballpark, and enjoy time at the ballpark while the kids are with a babysitter. It is family, it is home away from home, and today was the last game of the season... Unless of course we make it to the playoffs. I think our chances look good... And of course then there is the World Series. I wonder if this is the year for #2?

I love this time of year. College football starting, the wonderful weather and time to start staying home. And the last game of the year.
