It is a beautiful morning in the land of Angels!

It is a beautiful morning in Southern California, particularly near Anaheim. Being the baseball fan that I am, I am also very superstitious. I've noticed a pattern regarding my entries on this blog with how my beloved Angels performed against the Yankees so I will not comment on what may be happening in the state of Illinois this evening ... however, I will enjoy this opportunity to reflect on our winning the series against the Yankees. It was beautiful!

My son Jack woke up yesterday morning and said, "Mommy, I had a dream last night that the Angels were going to win tonight!" He is four, almost five and the last time he said this was in 2002 the morning of Game 7 of the World Series ... and hauntingly, he was right! Fans as superstitious as me have a routine. I haven't washed my Garret Anderson shirt yet because every time I've worn it they've won. My Husband cannot wear his Darin Erstad jersey this year because it is jinxed. Instead he wears a free red T-shirt we got at a game earlier this year. It seems to have the luck this season! I take off my watch or bracelet because when I wear them during the game we begin to lose. We have our "Rally Monkeys" that we take to the game that represent my Husband and I and our children. When we are watching a game at home, they sit on the couch untouched, also watching the game. Our new neighbors now come join us at the end of the 7th inning with martini in hand and that too has worked to get us a win! Last year, the Angels only won if Jenelle was sitting in front of the TV watching. So, to say we are a little bit fanatical is not exactly exaggerating. This is why I will no longer post about the game that day because I've noticed when I've done that, it doesn't help!

But for this brief moment, I will enjoy the win from last night. It was a good game and the Yankdidn'tcertainly didn't go down without a fight. I was holding my breath to that last out. I am looking forward to seeing the mail room boy this morning who daringly told me yesterday that "Angels are going down tonight!" because he is a Yankees fan! I enjoyed gloating a bit with fellow fans in the hallway around the cubicles as we talked about the last play to end the game. I admittedly have a smile on my face that I just can't hide.

Today is a good day, and I will enjoy it. Come 4:00 p.m. this evening, things change, and that fear and excitement will begin all over again. My biggest hope now is that the game on Saturday does not conflict with the USC/Notre Dame game. Then again, a weekend trip to the central part of the United States wouldn't be bad huh?

p.s. My toes are still ANGELS RED!
